How We Measure Impact
Each weapon is rated on a 5-point severity scale (1 = minor local impact, 5 = strategic/civilisational impact). Ratings consider:
- Scale of effect: Individual, unit-level, battlefield, campaign, or strategic impact
- Casualty potential: Lethal radius, rate of fire, concentration of force
- Force multiplier: How much did this change the balance of power?
- Historical precedent: Did it change military doctrine?
- Accessibility: How widely available was it?
